Animal Diseases

The Scottish Government's policy on disease control is that prevention is better than cure. This approach works by reducing the chances of a disease entering the animal population.

Information and guidance on specific diseases relative to Scotland and the latest information on any disease outbreaks in Scotland is available from The Scottish Government website.

Information is also available from the Scottish Government on notifiable diseases. Notifiable diseases are named in section 88 of the Animal Health Act 1981 or an Order made under that Act.

If you suspect signs of any of the Notifiable Diseases, you must immediately notify your Divisional Veterinary Manager.
